Speakers Sal and Debby DiBianca

Sal & Debby have spoken in public and private schools across the Southeast United States since 1989. This dynamic couple connects with students in a powerful way using comedy, live music and speaking from personal experience concerning relevant teen issues:

  • Choices- the choices you make today will direct and affect the rest of your life
  • Substance abuse- drugs and alcohol destroy dreams. Don’t use them.
  • Abstinence- How far is to far? Protect yourself- Save yourself for marriage.
  • Self esteem- you are somebody. You’re not the clothes you wear or the car you drive. It’s the character that is in you that counts.
  • Dreams- where I am going and what I will do with the rest of my life. Goals for the future. What direction will you take in life? Education matters. Start planning now for the rest of your life. If you fail to plan you can plan to fail.

Assembly programs may be tailored according to the schools needs and the administration’s desires.

N.C. couple letting students know that choices made now can last a lifetime

Sal and Debby DiBiancaSal and Debbie Dibianca have made life-altering mistakes involving drugs, alcohol and sex. Now they spend their time trying to influence young people not to do the same. The married couple from Sandhills, N.C., representing the national Teen Challenge Treatment Center, spoke to students at various schools in Harrison County on Wednesday. “At the age of 12, I started smoking marijuana, and by the time I was 17 my life was out of control,” Sal told the eighth-grade students at Washington Irving Middle School. “I lost respect for everyone else and myself.” He then revealed his mistake of having sex in his teens, which resulted in pregnancy with his 15-year-old girlfriend at the time now his wife Debbie.
Students stayed mesmerized for almost 45 minutes as the Dibianca's talked about their choices. The couple didn’t preach to the students or deliver judgment. They just offered words of advice and caring. Student Chris Lemley, 13, was impressed. He believes the Dibianca's understand what teens face today. “I liked what he said about it not mattering if you have made a bad choice because you can always turn it around,” Lemley said. “I think kids need to hear that.” The Dibianca's went to a Teen Challenge Center early in their lives and have become a success story. They now run one of the centers in North Carolina. The center houses 24 men with drug and alcohol addictions. The Dibianca's also deliver their faith-based message to students across the country.
Debbie’s story about her teen-age years hit home with female students. She recalled having multiple abortions, contracting sexually transmitted diseases and abusing drugs and alcohol.

“I care about you, and I don’t want you to go down the road I did,” Debbie told the students. “ I’m 40 years old and I’m still living the consequences of my actions.” After the assembly, a group of girls flocked to Debbie to hug her and seek advice.

Dear Mr. and Mrs Dibianca:

Thank you very much for your presentation at our school today. I am not sure that you are aware of the profound and lasting impression you made upon many of our students. I know that some stayed following your program to speak with you, but many more spoke of the effectiveness of your message with teachers and each other throughout the rest of the day.

You are to be commended for planning and directing your program so effectively toward the teen age audience. Every moment had that planned “spontaneous” appearance that grabs and holds the attention of young people. I believe that our students really listened and certainly profited from this program.

As a high school principal, I can tell you that educators are always looking for outstanding and positive motivating experiences for their students and I was most certainly pleased with the professional presentation and the student reaction to the program that you brought to us today.

I would be most pleased to pass on our experience with your program to other interested parties and most certainly recommend it without hesitation.
Thank you again and I wish you much well deserved success in the future.

Sincerely yours,

Jerry E. McKeen
Principal

Dear Sal and Debbie:

Thank you for the wonderful job you did for us in August Your program on drugs and sexual abstinence was very effective in making our students aware of these problems and how they can overcome these problems in their lives. Besides being informative, you were sincere and spoke from the heart. Our students as well as our teachers were very positive in our follow-up of this program. Our staff was impressed with the way in which you handled a sensitive subject in a personal yet professional manner. You have a gift of interacting with and expressing love and concern for young people.

I would highly recommend your program for any school or youth related groups.

Sincerely,

M. D. Guthrie

To Whom It May Concern:

On March 28, 2001, I had the opportunity to host Sal and Debby Dibianca at Robert C. Byrd High School, They presented two programs, addressing our entire student body, and the results were overwhelmingly gratifying.

Sal and Debby’s message was one of choices and consequences. Today, many young people act as though there are no ramifications to their decisions. The Dibianca's were able to put that misconception to rest with a program that informed, entertained, and challenged our students. They even took time after their presentations to speak individually with any who chose to speak with them.

At a time when principals and schools are asked to do more and more things with our students, especially in dealing with issues of character education, I can unequivocally recommend Sal and Debby Dibianca. They will be a valuable resource in your school to promote good character and citizenship for your students.
